Very nice creation for the May edition of the Technic Challenge.

Lightweight single-seat helicopter. It features a single motor, which drives a pair of contra-rotating, coaxial propellers.

LEGO GBC 10 modules by laurens gauwloos

In their site  laurens gauwloos pubkished this 10 modules GBC with some interesting features, and reinterpretations of known gbc concepts and techniques.

"This Lego great ball contraption "GBC" has 10 different modules and are sturing with 8 PF-M motors and 2 PF-L motors. It took me 1 month to finish it. It is 2 metre long and 30-40 centimetre width. It contains: A ball shooter, a moving bridge, 2 ball lifts, a ball accelerator, a ball wheel,.... It is powerd by 2 PF-battery boxes and 2 switches to have the righe direction. there are also many delays with gears and worm gears.
You'll see that I have used tracks for the lifts and for the ball wheel and a big shock absorber for shooting the balls."

Automatic gearboxes

There are a few kinds of Lego Technic automatic gearboxes, here some examples:

The first one, a two speed gearbox by Sariel, based on a 3 speed design by Misha van Beek

Another automatic design by Misha van Beek

Click Here to see it working

This gearbox by Zblj using 2 differentials switches between 1:1 and 1:5 gear ratios:

Sariel make a more compact version of this and published this two shots at facebook

From the same builder is this 3-speed "simple, yet effective gearbox, using a very unique design to change gears"

YotamPoleg show us in the first part of this video a real CVT gearbox:

Another interesting concept, this one is controlled by a centrifugal device:

And finally my own first prototype of automatic gearbox, mixing Misha and Zblj concepts, two differentials to switch between 1:1 and 1:5 gear ratios, and a third differential to unlock the 1:5 gears when more torque is need and lock it when less torque and more speed is wanted, also the 1:1 gears got anti-return device in order to prevent the stop of the entire gearbox.

Pancake Bot

Tasty creation! Really interesting device!!

The Pancake Bot (PB) is basically a 3 axis CNC made that uses the Z coordinate as the Pancake Batter Dispenser Control. This one just happens to be made out of LEGO.

Mechanical GBC train module

Yes, I say MECHANICAL instead of electronic, because this module is all made without mindstorms, wedoo or other electronic devices... mechanical automatism brought to perfection

Just see how great this is:

The loading module

And a closer image of the automatic loading mechanism:

The switch-clutch selector, equivalent to the vintage monorail LEGO system,  see the output gear and the clutch selector in booth sides:

The loading trains:

Hope this great builder make another creations and videos soon. Meanwhile check the akiyuky's previous entries in this blog or also his blog, (google translate will help a little) to check another ball factory:

Lego Technic Pneumatic Vehicle by Nico71

As a fan of steam and Lego Technic pneumatic creations this car must appear here:

It has all steam basics, boiler, flyweel, distribution valve and a "decorative" centrifugal speed regulator valve...

...Steering and pilot operated clutch!

Like almost always I recommend to watch the video to see the Moc in action!
